We put the bees away for winter

The cover protects the hives and the bees from possible external precipitation. Contrary to popular belief, hives are not closed. If the weather warms up in the winter to around 10 degrees, the bees can come out to clean themselves. The ideal would be if they stayed indoors for a few months, and the weather didn't heat up regularly. This way they can really relax themselves for the spring offshoot.
